Today, whilst wandering, I came across these. They are labelled as Primrose Antique Blue/Yellow. They iare n trays of 6. There is also a red version. I like the washed out look. I think it looks classy.

I have planted several types of primroses/primulas over the years, none of which survived more than one season. This time I was thinking about trying them in pots. If I do, am I likely to see better results?

Why do you think they are not surviving more than one season?

I have put a number of them in the ground and found they survive to the following year without much problem. The early flowers were damaged by the wind a bit earlier in the year but posted a video clip showing mine still growing earlier today. The wild type of primrose that grows here does seem to be a bit stronger and grows bigger from one season to the next but some primula I have planted out have done OK as well. There have been some varieties I have tried that did fail to keep going but I think they might just have got overgrown.

We have pale primroses/primulas and cowslips, as well as strongly coloured ones. They never seem to have any problem growing and surviving (some are 40+ years old) so I wonder if the soil they're in isn't right.

I always look upon them as being best in the ground and it should encourage them to spread.

I also think the paler ones look classier.
