Hi,im looking to buy a home printer,i want it to print good photos mostly plus general A4 photocopying and print of paperwork for work,I also like the idea that some hp printers have a link that delivers ink to the door when its running low but thats me being lazy :heehee:

I have for many years used IJT buy Five sets of ink and receive a free printer
    I chose the Canon MG5350
The printer/scanner/fax is excellent, and the ink very cheap
You can choose Canon auto supply, at Canon prices, or you can buy IJT copy ink (which I do)
I print many photos A4 and let my daughters print many b&w documents for Uni and my wife photocopy knitting patterns
I have never had a problem, but hey just buy five sets of cheap ink and you get another free printer
You have a choice of Canon, HP, COLOUR OR LASER PRINTERS COLOUR OR B&W

You being lazy, well just get the free printer for five ink sets then click on deliver by manufacturer

I have never had a problem with IJT Inks, the photos last for who knows but eight years so far for me without fading, documents forever

    Make your choice

I know a few people who use the HP Instant Ink plan, it certainly is easier, and if you have children who use it a lot then it's quite reasonably priced.

Darrans likes your canon MG5350 @Jack McHammocklashing, when you reorder inks jack how much do they all cost about?if you dont mind me asking, as they are the extra large inks arn't they?
Im off to find reviews on your canon too @wiseowl :)
Does the Dpi makes the differance in the quality of photos printed? the higher the better? Along with good quality high gloss paper ?

;)Good evening @joolz68 Up to a point, printers with higher DPI produce clearer and more detailed output. The number one factor that determines the quality of a printer is the printer's resolution or DPI (Dots Per Inch). DPI is the amount of ink that an inkjet printer can place in a one-inch line of your print document. Most inkjet printers produce documents at 600 x 600 DPI, though many now have much higher resolutions. This is the principal quality measurement for most printers. Some printers have the ability for you to increase the DPI to 4800 DPI to print various documents. The majority of the inkjet printers on the market today also print photographs with impressive quality.

Canon - excellent image quality, and seem to ultra-reliable (I remember the early bubblejet printers from them, and they were cracking wee things)

HP - Similar image quality to canon, with nice vibrant colours; the print head is part of the cartridge, so gets replaced every time you replace the inks

Epson - Great performance, but the ultimate in throw-away printers as far as I am concerned. The print head is part of the printer on these, and although they do have an inbuilt cleaning system, it eventually clogs up and needs replacing itself (if it can be replaced of course); inks aer not the cheapest, especially if you stick with the branded ones, hence they often get filled once or twice and ditched.

Dell - their laser printers are pretty decent if laser is your thing?

Ricoh - part of the TDK empire I believe; not bad, but not the best either. We have Ricoh printers and copiers at work, and they aren't the most reliable things on the planet.

Samsung - lasers are fine, and toner is not too expensive (I have one myself); can be a bit of a faff to get them to play nicely on a network though.

Brother - not got much recent experience with them, but their WP's were always pretty good.

The deals that @Jack McHammocklashing suggests with IJT look very good value indeed.
