I've got a tatty old myrtle. it's about 4' high and has always been kept in a pot. I'd like to prune it right down, feed it well and see if it responds by producing lots of healthy growth. Am I likely to be rewarded?

If it`s in such poor shape what do you have to lose? Personally I would cut it down to 1ft, freshen up the compost and give it a high nitrogen feed.:dbgrtmb:

I would re pot it too in a larger pot, use a slow release fertilizer like bonemeal

I've got a bit of bonemeal so all I need is need is a bit of John Innes 3 and it's for the chop!

May I suggest a peat based compost rather than a soil based one.

Oh. Why's that then? Easier, really, 'cos I've already got some.
