    Pumpkin Growing and Carving Challenge

Some time ago I asked who would be interested in growing some possibly huge Pumpkins, the following people noted an interest, so I went ahead and got hold of some seed.

    Steve R
    davygfuchsia
    Alice
    JWK
    pete

The seeds come from a 849lb Pumpkin, the seed for that Pumpkin came from a 1502lb Pumpkin, so the seed I have is of good pedigree, would anyone else like to take part in this bit of fun to grow as big a Pumpkin as you can?

They do use a large ammount of space to grow, but you can always cut back foliage to match the space available and grow what you can...its just for fun!!

Like the present Cabbage Walking stick challenge, this could be a two part challenge...who can grow the biggest, then a carving competition where photo's of your carved Pumpkins can be voted upon by GC members.
Add a post if your interested and I'll pm you some details of how to get the seeds from me. John, I already have your details.

    Current world record Pumpkin 1810lb

I'll still give it a go but finding the space might be a problem.
A picture of the one I grew about three years ago :D

I'll give it a go if I can find a space big enough. Don't supose letting it climb up a tree is going to end happily.

Seeds all posted out this morning, a dozen to each of you. Enough for you to grow a few plants then choose the healthiest one to then plant out. Feel free to give away extra seeds/plants to friends, neighbours and fellow plot holders.

If anyone else wants to join in, please do as there is still plenty of seed/time left.

I've made a slight boo boo, I packaged and posted seeds off with a first class stamp on each.

I've just come back from the post office (I'd run out of stamps at home) to post Scrungees seed where I found out it should have had a higher cost "large packet" stamp on it. So, one or two of you may be asked for another 20p or so...or they may just be posted as usual...apparently its borderline.

My apologies for this mix up.

Don't worry about it Steve. I'm sure we'll all manage to sort it out at our own end.
