Someone on the allotment has offered me some strawberry plants - so I'm going to build a 3 tier trough planter - and place the strawberries in this.

Just picked up 3 x Harris Wallpaper Troughs - 3.28 GBP each - they are just as strong as a 'normal' plastic plant trough and are nice and 'square' so they can more easily be built into a tiered planter.

    Harris Wallpaper trough (L)600mm (W)160mm | DIY at B&Q

or, I could have paid 9.50 GBP for this:

.....and here they are in the just completed stand:

      Stand.jpg

The stand has been made from some pieces of scrap timber I had lying about, and already had a box of screws. Cost of stand, the cost of the wallpaper troughs - beat that Scrungee .

Will be using the left over paint from the allotment shed - so it will match. Hoping for a nice crop of strawberries :spinning:

Brilliant idea @clanless! I often think garden centres charge us far too much for flimsy plastic containers.
