Hi Woo, it may be down to having lots of leaves and with all the rain we have been having that there is two much weight for the branches to cope with, i've got the same with a hawthorn at the mo

Hmmm that's interesting Woo,sorry I can't help with the problem but looking out of the window at mine it too is looking a bit worse for wear and as Jiffy says the rain is making it droop even more. When this rain eases off I'll take a closer look. They're normally quite a robust tree so I hope it's nothing sinister:fingers crossed:

Same thing happened with my laburnum, I had to go out and knock the water off with the brush !!! had little effect apart from given me a good soaking.

Downside is if it stays like that for a couple of days the branches may stay in that shape

Oh Woo you little tinker.. It will however be interesting to see what shape it grows into now, so you need to keep us posted..

The young growth branches are still soft, all this rain coupled with all the young soft leaves that do not have the strength to repel the rain yet so they just collapse under the weight.. You certainly need to lighten the load though, as Spruce says it can change the shape of the tree forever if you don't.. What's that saying.? "Damned if you do and damned if you don't".... I hate garden situations like that... :thud:
