Raised beds

    Hi I made some raised beds. Put wood protection on and planted new flowers today. Should I put mulch / bark down as well they keep saying it's going to snow

      Nicely made planters.
      They look to be in a reasonably sheltered spot, but a mulch can only do good, both for frost protection and later on to suppress the weeds and retain moisture.

        Many thanks for your reply I have made some for the veg plants as well all sleepers cut only with manual hand saw.
        So is it a idea not to use anything around new plants

          With veg plants I guess we've got to consider which wood preserver is reasonably safe.
          I doubt if it would leech into the soil but i did put a sheet of black dpc plastic on the inside of mine to minimise the risk.
          A roll from screwfix wasn't expensive.
