hi everyone i have been running virtual games for 6 month on a 512mb no wonder my tower was working hard and making noises, i have just yesterday had a 1000 mb desktop memory installed and its working fantastic, quiet as a mouse now.
thought i would let all know in case anyone else is having these problems, saved me buying a new pc and it was only £40 a friend put the memory in and while he was on cleaned near the fan and the dust was unbelievable.
iff you get computer guys to do it they will charge you £15, the memory just slotted in next to the 512 one.

hi daisees its really great, when i bought this desk top 3 years ago i wasnt up to date with the technolody of mb, known what i know now, doing the same to my lap top as thats just got 512 mb.
desk tops have come down in price so much also since then, you can get an acer with 2048 mb for just £379, 3 years ago i paid over £800 for mine.
Bt keep saying they are going to upt my broadband speed so i should be flying he he

I was struggling with a Speedtouch modem until recently. You had to do a connect just like dial-up! Not only did it keep cutting out, the average speed was around 1.2-1.6mbps.

Then I got a gateway router and set it up! It's amazing! I NEVER get cut off now and the speed is 54 mbps!! Woo hoo!

Sorry peeps, this is just to see if this post finally makes it to the top because it is sitting well below July postings on here for me. I've looked and it is only this section that seems to have this problem. I see things from the 22/7 above this thread, so hope this sorts it (as if!).

    cheers

yes Daisees i can remember when you had that it must of been very slow going, I have a hub its supposed to be wireless but my pc guy connected it and he made my lap top wireless, as he says unless you have a few pcs in your home its pointless having wireless he reckons they are half efficient.
thanks borrowers maybe my added message might help he he
