It could be an insect sting or bite maybe? But I'm guessing, you should play safe and ring NHS Direct or go to the Doctors in case its an infection.

Sounds like an infection or a sting, any break in the skin?sometimes it can clear up on its own but if it spreads or persists get it checked out.

I'd go with the infection/bite/sting/reaction theory. I'd get it seen to asap. Something similar happened to my dad years ago. They gave him antibiotics and it cleared up nicely, but then antibiotics won't do anything for am allergic reaction, burn, sting etc so best get doc to have a look.

Well I've been looking around the net at allergy rashes and at stings/bites and none of them matched mine at all =[ anyway today it's got worse so I'm calling the med centre tomorrow for an appointment as it's very swollen and it's getting hard to move and the rash appears to of spread a little

    Good luck with it.

I get a similar reaction to wasp stings, Doing the wasp nest destruction in the summer despite wearing protection I get the odd sting and this progresivly builds up in the blood stream giving a worse reaction each time (I always used to react badly at the best of times!!).

Some very strong antihystamine tablets help to reduce the symptoms.

Im not a doctor and would check with one before taking them but I rekon they might help, they are Citirizine Dihydrocloride 10mg

    Available over the counter.

Could even be arthritis or gout! Any of those nice, user-friendly conditions. Good luck!

"Paul I thought you had a snazy protective suit "

I do, It keeps the worst off but is basicly a thin boiler suit fabric, when your working in an attic and the fabric is pressed up against your arm they can still sting through it!
