I just saw that too, no details been released yet, just a cordoned off area & an air ambulance.

    Hope no one was hurt.

From: Red Arrow crashes during air festival

I hope that's the case but can't find confirmation anywhere else.

That's terrible. We saw them practising over Manston airfield just the other day - they flew low over the road, turned to face us and switched their lights on. It felt as though they were performing just for us! Glad that it seems the pilot is OK.

Had them here for the Carnival Wednesday, I hope it doesn't jepodise any future displays, they are incredible no matter how many times you see them.

This is really bad news for all concerned. My sympathy to Flt Lt Jon Egging's family, friends and Squadron. This will affect every one on the Unit as you all get very close on operational units.
The Aircraft Accident Incident investigation will take months or more to come to a conclusion so it's unwise to speculate what the cause was. But I do know that the technical service ground crew will be asking themselves "was it something I did, or didn't do, that caused it. It's a very natural thing to do when some like this happens. All the Front Line and 2nd Line Servicing documents will be impounded for the investigation and all servicing will be checked and double checked. Not a good time.

People are posting that the pilot didn't eject, but deliberately stayed with his plane so that he could steer it away from homes and towards farmland.

This is so sad. Catching sight of the team practising, while we were coming back from the coast and travelling along the rather miserable route out of Thanet, was magical. It was just a few days ago.

How terribly sad. The red arrows team are fantastically skilled and brave, and renowned throughout the world. My thoughts go out to the family, friends and team mates of the poor chap.
