Ihave a well established standard bush/tree which I am told is called red robin. Can anyone please tell me why the leaves curl up and die as soon as they turn red. Thanks.

I also have a Photinia Red Robin - and it shows no sign of this type of problem. Its currently covered with red new leaves.

Any chance you could post a picture of your shrub, it may help us to identify the problem.

Could it be frost or cold wind? Do they also curl up and die during the summer months or just in early spring?

Thank you so much for your information. From reading your replies I think the problem is cold spring winds. I bought this shrub many years ago on the anniversary of my husbands death [as I do every year].I only have a very small garden so I did not expect it to shoot up like it did. I live quite high up facing open fields in Yorkshire so maybe the plant has become too

exposed. Can I cut it back or move it.

Johnny, sorry I do not have the equipment to send pictures. I am just about managing to operate the computer. It took me quite a while to figure out how to get your pictures on screen. You have a very nice garden, I only wish mine looked as good. Thanks.
