    Hi

I want to 'refill' last year's hanging baskets so have two questions:

    1. What do I put in them ? bedding plants?

    2. should I use fresh compost of just chuck last year's dead plants and salvage what's there already? (or both?)

    Thanks

If you are gettinmg your fresh plants from a garden centre then they should be able to give you advice on what plants to get. Some are just perfect for hanging baskets. Trailing plants are usually good for round the outside of the basket and upright ones for the centre.

It depends on the size of the basket and how high you want to hang it.

Ive just planted up to baskets and got plants from GC - they sold packs of 6 different plants for hanging baskets for £3.49! Longacres at Bagshot, Surrey is fantastic!
Maybe your GC will have the same kind of thing - i guess they all do. I also bought upright geraniums and petunias for the centres and a trailing lobelia for each as they look great in a hanging basket!
