Hi, im Carly and I grew up helping my grandad grow some veg from time to time.
Right up until his last spring in 2012 we had a little veg growing competition. It was a way we comunicated and I miss that. I have continued to grow some veg in the garden in his memory.
I have a relatively small garden and have a little greenhouse...well I have just found out today that our family home is sold and we are moving house where we have an 160 ft garden with a neglected greenhouse and veg patch already in place. I do have a dog and dont entirely trust a battered glass greenhouse so I hope to restore the greenhouse if possible.

Can anyone suggest if this is possible? Its an metal framed greenhouse approx 10x8ft.
I would ideally like to make it a little larger as the garden is plenty big enough to take a larger greenhouse.

Would appreciate any helpful tips to get me started with initial planning.

    Thanks

Hi Carly, welcome to GC. :sign0016: I'm not sure about your greenhouse question but I'm sure other more experienced members will be along soon to offer advice. I think your Grandad would be really proud of you for continuing to garden in his memory so enjoy your new garden and good luck in your new home. :) ...maybe you could post a few pics of the garden to get some specific advice. :blue thumb: We like photos on here!

Hello and welcome to the forum Carly.

You could fence off the veg patch and greenhouse to stop your dog getting to that part. A 10X8 greenhouse is a good size, you're very lucky. If it's a reasonably modern aluminium greenhouse it should be possible to cheaply restore it.

Hi thanks for your replies to my post. Much appreciated!

Right- as I haven't moved into the new house yet Im using the agents photo of the garden and a satellite image as I dont have anything specific such as the greenhouse itself but hopefully this will help show what setup is already there and what could be done.

That's a nice sized garden, difficult to see but it looks in good condition too.

Smashing sized plot! Restoring a greenhouse shouldn't be too hard as long as it's not all battered and twisted. Replacement glass and clips to fill the holes and you can extend them but usually by attaching another greenhouse - suggest fixing the first one and then look about on freecycle / ebay for the extra.

                Options are limitless.

One last thing - purely for your own security could you remove all road name references from the pictures please? It makes you address identifying on a public forum which is not a good idea.

Welcome to Gardeners Corner Carly. :) You've obviously removed the link to your new garden but that's not a problem, no doubt we'll see pictures of it when you have moved in. 160ft is a good size and I'm sure you'll make the most of it. :dbgrtmb:

Hi Carly, welcome to Gardeners Corner.:snork: As said a few pics of the new garden and Green House will help the Gang to help you about growing veg, ideas for the garden and repairing the Green House. It would also help if you could tell us what direction the garden faces, and what type of soil is there!!:coffee:

Er, that would be my fault Armandii! I suggested removal of some identifier references. I expect Carly will be returning with some edited pics soonest. Really is a good plot:)
