    Hi Team,

I have been growing Rhubarb "Valentine" in a 40ltr pot it should of been its 3rd year and had been growing really well and looked happy in its huge pot .....

I thought odd that no leaves has popped up, on closer inspection I discovered Vine Weevil. I tipped all the soil out off the pot on to the lawn and I stopped counting at over a 100 vine weevil grubs/ larvae.....

This is the first time I have ever known them to like RHUBARB !!

I did have some satisfaction as two robins spent well over two hours collecting them all up ....

I am quite surprised they've eaten the rhurbarb roots maybe because its in a pot ? what a shame waiting all that time for a crop to not have it .

I have seen them eat a woody sedum root system borrowing into it.

I can sympathise with you. I use to grow rhubarb plants for sale. I grew them in what we called "Vacapots", 15 pot inserts into a standard seed tray. I had around 400 of them and lost them all to VW. This was around the 1980s.

I have or should I say the VW are now deciding what grows ... I do bait pots with begonias in during the summer and the compost at the end of the summer gets spread out on the lawn and the begonia tubers give a good wash and dry ...
