    A shame.

An insurance job perhaps....... Seems strange to have deep fat friers turned on during the night and if they were then the insurance company will be unlikely to pay out

Yeah, I don't think it was an insurance job. The new owners were grew up in W-S-M and seemed very sincere about their plans for its development when they bought it.

I can't wait for the day it opens again.

    Ant.

They might have spent £500, 000 but its been a very wet year so visitor numbers probably down and a large loan to pay off.

No but they could use the inssurance to radicly modernise the structure in a way that planning regs being that its a historic structure might have thwarted.

:( Very sad to see Anthony & Spud, I agree... :( I doubt if they had insurance Pro... Most insurance companies do not insure Piers....:( That is why when something tragic like this happens to one they are no more...!!!!:( I think just 3 Piers in this country are owned by local authorities... The rest are privately owned...!!!:( So they don't get a pay-out...!!!!:(
