    Hi all,

    *My first post*

Does anyone have any tips on ripening bell peppers? I have tonnes of huge green peppers that I'm waiting to change colour before I can devour them and here in Galloway, Autumn is setting in and the sun and heat is going fast. I feed them Tomolite every weekish and have picked loads of the surplus flower buds etc. I have also put banana skins in the greenhouse with them and have left the ripe tomatoes on the stems a little longer than usual to promote the gas release to help them ripen. Does anyone have any tips/advice? Not long left for them to ripen here.

    Thanks,

    Gillian

They do seem to take ages.
I usually take the first ones off green as that help later fruit to form.
Not sure its all about sunshine though.
I've bought green ones at this time of the year from thesupermarket and they often start to ripen in the fridge.

        Hello Gillian and welcome.

My husband recently bought a green bell pepper which I don't like. So I put it in a paper sandwich bag and put it in the pantry ... any dry, dark place will do. I checked it every few days and turned it once. Ten days later I had a beautiful sweet red pepper.

PS Here is an article you may find useful for bulk ripening ...
