Well having no luck with mowers was looking at getting a new honda ride on but decided in the end to get a Stihl imow. Ive got it up and running doing part of the lawn and it seems to be working ok. Will see how it gets on, hoping it will save some time next year. Has anyone else gone down this route?

Brother in law has one as he just hasn't got the time. Seems to cut ok as long as you keep the lawns clear (they've lost some clothes after they fell on the floor!) but obviously no pleasing stripes

Definitely no pleasing stripes. My wife says it looks like a drunk has been mowing the lawn - as it just travels about in a sort of random manner as far as I can tell. Hopefully by the end of the week it will look ok.

Takes a while for the bit to learn the lawn, but basically it does just bounce around the borders! Once established it should do a decent job and you can hopefully forget all about mowing :)

I'm thinking about getting one of those. I hadn't had a chance to cut the grass recently. It was a good 4" long and probably damp from all the rain. Today it was warm and went in over it with a mower. It was warm today and it made me feel queer. A robot mower would save that. My worry is that my garden isn't flat and I have slabs for stepping stones across the middle of it. Do I invest the money? received_1448645622629404.jpeg

I understand you have to dig in a sensor wire all around your lawn perimeter but have no idea how it would handle stepping stones if they are not level with the grass.

They are very expensive which stops me from getting one. I should imagine you would also need a charging point/electrics.

I thought that too @JWK . :) Did you notice that the parts of the lawn that had grass the mower had actually produced stripes on?
