Runner beans and dogwood cuttings?

I’ve just put up the runner bean frame, and will probably do an initial sow later this week.
I’m also overdue cutting old dogwood stems. It always seems a waste to just compost them, so I’m thinking of trying to take cuttings (again, not the recommended time, but fortunately potential cuttings can’t read).
I’m looking at the space in the middle of the bean frame.... It’s an area that will be well-watered through the summer, and in dappled shade - from the beans - in July and August. Daft idea? Or good use of space?

Well, I think it would work very well. Too late for me now...I cut dogwoods down a few weeks back.
