Two of Mr HsuH's carvings for our village's sensory garden were stolen!!

This 1 metre tall piece was ripped out from its base - 2 bolts proved not enough to stop the theft

This little green man sitting on top of kids' veggie planter didn't escape the attention of the thief(s) either.

The Sensory Garden was opened in April this year and kids love it because they can go there to listen, touch, smell, explore as well as to plant and harvest. Yet half a year later some selfish individual did this:gaah:. I'm lost for words.....

Sadly I doubt the thief actually had any intention of keeping or selling them. The sad truth is that some people just don't want others to have things, so they steal or vandalise or burn things just to satisfy their own twisted notion of fun.

That really sucks! These days sculptures and decorative art objects are targets for theft. These days installations are often protected by heavy anchors into the ground, sometimes with deep foundations. Such a sad state of affairs. I think I read some time ago that even a Henry Moore piece was stolen from somewhere and melted down!

To be honest they are very good carvings.
And as such I'm not surprised sadly.

I'm sorry to see this HsuH. I often wonder what is behind this sort of malice, is it for the sheer fun of making someone else's life miserable - and why?

Thank you all. You have voiced the thoughts that have been swirling in my head regarding what (if anything) goes on in the minds of some members our human race!!

We have now posted on a village Facebook page and some friends are sharing it on other Facebook pages/groups around the village, in the hope that the missing works could be found or information of who might be responsible come the light.

Should Mr HsuH decide to donate more carvings to the village I'm sure he will have them bolted down as securely as he knows how.

The good news is that the carving in my garden is still looking good!

Oh how dreadful. I hope the bu''ers get a guilty conscious and bring them back. Certainly by advising of the theft (with photos I hope)on Facebook that should prevent the thief enjoying the lovely carvings in their garden for fear of them being recognised. Mr HsuH is very talented, if I had done the carvings nobody would have wanted to steal any of my pathetic efforts. I suppose he should at least take the theft as a compliment:grphg:.

Sorry to hear that this has happened @HsuH especially after all the hard work your other half have put into carving them:sad:

I suspect that whoever has taken them won’t dare have them on display now that you are advertising the fact that they have been stolen so I expect they will go into either someone’s woodburner or open fire:sad:

                      Surprise! Suprise!

After more than 1.5 month of no news or sighting, yesterday the parish clerk informed us that the missing carving had been handed in. :hapydancsmil:

                      IMG_1336.JPG
The lady who handed it over said she found it under a hedgerow but it looked so clean that it didn't look as though it had been in the hedge long at all. We are all so pleased that it has returned to our community and also very grateful for the 6500 people in and around our village who have viewed the post that we put on our Village Action Facebook page and kept their eyes open all this time. :):)

Ah, that is really good news! It was probably taken by someone who had imbibed in far too much of the old falling down water, and they (at the time) thought it was funny. What is the betting that they woke up with it in their room, and wondered where the hell it came from?
