I had an e mail yesterday from 'Car tax.GOV.Uk'
The page heading looked genuine and it stated that they could not access my monthly car tax payments.
Would i therefore re submit my bank details.
As my car tax is only £20 a year i pay it in total each January.
So it was an obvious scam.
Just be on your guard though because the site looked quite convincing.

There are so many of these scams. I've had several from fake, Pay Pal, TV Licensing etc etc. Perhaps it's time the government stepped in and outlawed such practices.

I think it is outlawed, but often from foreign countries and not easy to stop.

I had an email yesterday telling me Id failed to pay my 'fixed penalty notice' for driving in the congestion zone and so it had been doubled!! I momentarily panicked and realised seeing as my car hasn't left town for months it was probably a scam. Then I though OMG has somebody cloned my number plate??? Hovering the computer mouse over the email bar I could see it had come from a private email address so all was OK. Theses despicable people should get mandatory jail sentences.

Got a message from my gp surgery telling me to download an app called, my GP, which I did about 3 months ago.
Just tried it again today and apart from a message telling me to get a flu jab there was nothing else you could do with it.
Maybe not a scam as such but a pretty pointless piece of clutter.
Uninstalled it, total waste of time.

I think GP surgeries were putting out this kind of stuff during the lockdown to make it look like they were still working when basically they were shut.
                  Mine was anyway.

Our doctors surgery has been open throughout the summer.
I went there for a B12 check and they'd fitted an outdoor gazebo where you waited for a nurse to come outside donned in mask and visor.
Not sure how that will work during the winter.

Just received an email from BT who supply my phone and email.

It says "we've given your bill a makeover". "You can see, here, how we're adjusting your Direct Debit to compensate." It then gives a link.

Do you think it's a scam? It doesn't come from a BT email address but from gobbysod@hotmail,com

This gobbysod person sounds quite nice. :heehee:

I sent it to a cousin who works in I.T. to ask his opinion . This was his answer :loll:

                          "I think this is genuine.

I understand, that in order to attract a younger Clientele, BT are rebranding to GobbySod, which I think is a very catchy and attractive name for a major International Telecommunications Company.

Of course, the inevitable huge cost of hiring a renowned rebranding organisation to handle the associated PR concomitant with such rebranding has to be recouped from existing Customers, hence the required adjustment to your Direct Debit.

I think you should be delighted that BT or GobbySod, as they are henceforth to be known, are adjusting to a changing World, and you should be comfortable with accepting this increase."
