    Hi all,

I would be grateful for some advice.
I am growing garlic in my garden for the first time.
I planted both hardneck and softneck garlic, but it seems that all of the plants have produced scapes!

I thought it was just hardneck that produces scapes?

The softneck was a variety called Germidour (from Wilko). Do you think that they might have put the wrong bulb in the package?

    Kind regards

Hardneck garlic get their name from their central flower stalks that form a rigid hard stem that will require a knife/pruners to trim.

Softneck garlic do not produce flower stalks, somhave soft pliable stems (that are suitable for plaitting). They also store better than hardnecks.

Contact Wilko customer services and tell them they've sold you the wrong stuff, explaining why you wanted both varieties and they will normally send a gift card.

Please how do you know when garlic is ready to be harvested? I'm growing for the first time....stalks are tall and starting to go yellowish.

They should be ready when they go yellowish and start to shrivel, so worth having a look at one.
