As I don't see a thread dedicated to sowing seeds during 2022 I thought I'd create it myself!

Seems right some how as today I've sown my first seed of 2022! Yes, you read it right, my 1st SEED (in singular) of 2022! :dbgrtmb:

It was a Sunflower seed we were given at church today together with a tiny pot & a tiny amount of compost! We have been asked to pray for the crisis in Ukraine whenever we see the plant! I've posted a photo somewhere else on here so I won't repeat it here.

I bought some compost on Friday with the intention of sowing some tomato seeds, but somehow I didn't get around to doing it. Tomorrow 14th March, I shall sow them. This will be a week earlier than most years when I start them off in a heated propagator.

Most years I start them off on 21st March. I've got a packet of 60 Tomato seeds 'Gardeners Delight'. I only need about 10-12 plants, all I've got room for on the balcony, so I shall have LOTS of seeds left over!

So what seeds are YOU sowing in the coming weeks?:what:

Good idea @Balc I've made it a Sticky

I've sown a few seed so far:
Seven different varieties of Onions and shallots on 28th Dec
        Chilli seed on 7th Jan
        Nicotiana sylvestris on 13th Jan
3 different types of Cabbage and Cauliflower in Feb plus Sweet Pepper 'Gypsy'
Basil and a couple of varieties of tomato started within the last week or so.

In the coming week I will sow all of the tomatoes for the greenhouse. Also next week, for the allotment, more brassicas, spinach, lettuce, carrots, peas, beans, celery and celeriac.

It's a busy time coming up.

In soil blocks I have sown delphiniums, coleus, cleome, dahlias, primula (several colours), campanula, lavatera, celosia, petunias and wave petunias. There are some others that I don't remember at this moment.

In hanging pots - dahlias, nicotiana (three colours), salvia, lobelia and some chillies.

In large pots I have planted allium, canna lily, and 4 o'clock (experiment) tubers.

I have lots left to do. :rolleyespink:

I have sown Antirrhinums, Laurentia, Foxgloves, Morning Glory and Sweetpeas. All germinated, but so far only the Morning Glory and Sweetpeas have come to fruition.

Being further north than most here I tend to start seeds two or three weeks later than the rest of the country.

Indoors so far, Lupins and Delphinium as they take longer than others to germinate. Lupins are up and potted on. The rest I will start sometime this week or next. Runner beans will be left 'til April or early May.

Today I took delivery of those thin trays of seed pots so I split one in half (all I had room for in my propagator) and sowed a dozen Morning Glory. Four each of Heavenly Blue, Mixed and Ipomoea.

Tomato 'Gardeners Delight' seeds just sown 14th March 2022.jpg

I've sown at least 12-14 seeds. I've sown them in Rootainers so they will have lots of room for their roots.

I only need about 10 for the balcony but I told my son I was sowing the seeds today & asked if he wanted any plants later. He asked for just 2 plants as he says his garden doesn't get much sun. I'll have a few spares - just in case.

I sowed the rest of my tomato seed plus a few other veggies and flowers. I had a helper today, checking the water. She also got inside a bag of vermiculite when I wasn't looking and came out covered in the stuff!
