A great way to increase the plants in your garden by swapping seeds with other members.

    How it works:

A parcel is put together, containing little bags of seeds you dont think you'll ever use, this parcel is sent to one person after another from a list on this topic and as each member receives it they take out what seeds they want to use and add some more seeds, hence the "swap", then they post it onto the next member on the list. This way, the package offers a great choice of varieties, covering flowers, veg and herbs for very little outlay.

    Before the parcel arrives:

Please keep updated by viewing this topic and have the following ready for when the parcel arrives to you. The name and address of the next person on the list, some envelopes for storing seeds from the parcel in and the seeds you intend to put into the parcel yourself.

    Guidelines:

Here are the guidelines from the last seed swap topic, I have added in No 9 below (in bold) and suggest we use this set...feel free to discuss.
    1. Maximum hold time before passing on parcel, unless previously arranged is 3 days (ties in with rule 3)
    2. Message person after you on the list before sending parcel and to the thread so we're all kept in the loop
    3. If no response to a message, move on the next person, after 3 days (Works with rule 1)
    4. Contact details held by me Pamsdish for everyone, as an emergency(name, email, address and a phone if you wish) but it's not compulsory
    5. If you miss your turn, then you miss your turn, you wait til it comes round again.
    6. New joiners go to the back of the queue , i.e behind the person who currently has it ( which will mean keeping the thread up to date on who has is, keep it public, if you have it you post)
    7. Just keep us all informed, maybe a role call either on the thread or by me PMing, maybe with 2 chances to reply then your name is in red and after round of the parcel your off the list till you get in touch then rule 6 comes into force.
    8. Please, no out of date seeds.
    9. Please make sure you will be able to send the parcel on in three days, this will involve getting to a post office. If you think this might not be possible please ensure that someone will be able to do it for you if for example your taken ill. The parcel must move on always as other people are waiting for it.
    10. Minimum membership of 3 months on Gardeners Corner, and must be active on some threads.
    Getting onto the list:

Copy the list and simply add yourself to the bottom

    Adding seeds:

Seeds you have bought will have a use by date and description on them, if you have self-collected your own seed please date when you collected them and add as full a name/description as you can.
    Notes

Some packets of seeds, particularly envelopes of seeds collected by members, will contain masses of seed - please just take enough for you and leave enough for others later in the list.

Please add any spare seed you have to the parcel - in past years the parcel has finished up with more packets than it started with and has gone round a second time.

Please don't under-estimate how small / fiddly many of the seeds are. It may be a significant job to help yourself to "some" seeds from each packet. You need seed-envelopes (that don't spill their contents), marker pens, time to write on the envelopes ... etc You'd need to copy the instructions from the original packet - many of the self-collected seed packets have advice written on that the sender found worked best for them
