I buy cell-grown plants of each (around about now), pot them in 9cm for the winter, in the greenhouse, and then plant out in the Spring or, if greenhouse space available, pot on to 1L in April/May and plant out next Autumn - they would be waist high by then :)

Cell-grown Berberis I bought last year are 36p each and Hawthorn 30p each. I bought from here:

              Any particular reason?

I've nothing against growing them from seed - can't argue with the price-point! - but its quite a slow process, unless you aren't going to need the plants for a couple of years :)

Sorry to hear that. My credit card company has always taken my word for it when a transaction has gone wrong and refunded my account and then, presumably, gone after the supplier. With credit card (as distinct from debit card I believe) the transaction is with the credit card company, so no need to pursue a doggy retailer, just short-pay the credit card company.

If any of these suppliers are near you then you would have the option to collect I expect :) Chances are that they are opposite end of the country though ...
