This single plant stem has popped up by my Phlox and Geraniums, I sort of recognise it but can't think what it is and why would I put it there as it is smothered...! So any ideas as to what I have got here are welcome..:scratch: TIA everyone..

I sort of recognise it as well without the foggiest idea of what it actually is. The leaves look slightly phloxy, the flowers look like a willowherb on steroids.

Mrs Shiney says that it reminds her of Leycesteria Formosa but there a few things that don't look quite right. The stem usually looks a bit squarer than the picture (my thought, not hers - so if that's wrong it's my fault :heehee:).

The flowers aren't clustered and dangly enough to be LF (IMO).

I don't know enough about plants in general to give even a wild guess: but, I will say this - it's a very interesting little thing, indeed! I rather like it (and as it looks like you have a few of them coming up - I hope you do too :heehee: ).

It's definitely a Phlox, the darker pink flowering varieties has these darker leaves, very pretty!

No P & P I think not.. The flowers are completely wrong for a Phlox.. I agree the very deep red flowered Phlox have purpling leaves but it is not that..

Well I had Phlox there before as I said PP.. I have waited a bit and there are flower buds there now, so defo a Phlox but not what was planted there 2yrs ago.. It was a pale pink one and never the purple tinged leaves.. I do love Phlox and have a few different clumps around the garden none like that one though.. Oh well will wait for the flowers to open now and see what colour..

Most embarrassing but I did plant it..! It is Phlox Watermelon punch I think looking back through a diary and I think it is "Windsor" and I bought it at a plant sale.. I must have planted it and promptly forgot it.. :doh:Open to suggestions if you think it is not Windsor..
