    Hi all,

I'm wondering if you think I should trim back my climbing rose at this stage of the season? I didn't trim back over the winter and it's already growing quite rapidly.

Here are some photos of it:

Probably would have been good to have to have done it a month or more ago .
It hasn't really got a lot of space there to spread.
Is the plan to take it over the top of the door way?

Yes, that would be my plan. As you can tell, I'm a rose (and gardening) newbie so just learning the ropes!

Might be a good idea to think of some trellis on the wall, or wires to tie it to as it grows.
I think you will have some coming across the windows lower down because the space is so narrow.

There doesn't seem to be much there to trim, except the branch growing over the window. I agree with @pete it needs something you can tie it on to.

Definitely get some sturdy but unobtrusive wire in place over the door, fixed to rawl-plugged screws or hooks. When you tie in the rose stems, arching them over to the horizontal, they'll flower all along the stems. The plant looks a bit young to be needing much pruning but it's never too soon to train it!
