@Adam I poncirus? One of the most lethal pointy plants (behind puya and colletia)? I have one that is doing quite well (based on the size of its thorns) but not seen a flower yet - and I've had it years!
The bladder nut sounds interesting though

I started growing poncirus a long time ago, I used it as a rootstock for a couple of clementine plants I have.
Also grown it in the garden and agree it's pretty lethal, but then so are some roses.
The fruit was always hard and mostly seeds, and dry.

I just ordered a pack of Capsicum Flexuosum seeds. The idea of a hardy perennial chilli caught my attention.

I don't suppose they'll love my clay soil but maybe I can build a little raised bed for them.

My stihl pruner has arrived. The morning after I ordered it! Now if only it'd stop raining, I could go out and play with it.

@Adam I , Jurassic plants is an addictive shop- a superb selection of interesting plants and reasonable pricing. Good customer service too. Thankfully most of their stuff is too tender for my liking but I do succumb every now and then

I had a look at the Jurassic Plants website yesterday after reading Adam's post. (Rainy February days can be quite dangerous for the bank balance.) I had never heard of almost every plant on there! Made me feel like a gardening newbie, back to the days when I would stroll round a garden centre not recognising anything and having to read every label.

I had plants from Jurassic Plants last spring and they were good small plants which went into the ground last autumn after getting a bit bigger.
Prices were very reasonable and they postage was good value and the packing was excellent.
I keep an eye on their website and may well use them again this spring.

The Jurassic Plants website does look interesting, thank you for the tip folks. The plants in my garden are now trembling in anticipation of another purge and replanting scheme .

The weather is dry and sunny but I'm a bit afraid of the pruner. It looks ready to slice off a finger or two Maybe I'll use it tomorrow

This is the crab apple, Malus Evereste, that I ordered last week from Mail Order Trees. It arrived today, as scheduled, very well packed, labelled, watered and a good size and shape, with a comprehensive care guide. Excellent value and service compared with other tree suppliers I have used. I planted it immediately, before more rain arrives!

Get rid of it @Plantminded and @ViewAhead. I got rid of what was here as soon as I got here. Grass is boring, it's a lot of work, and only meant for fields and very large gardens.
(That will probably press a few buttons !)

Yesterday I bought some bulbs in B&M Bargains - Freesias, Brodiaea, Eucomis Aloha Leia. I bought them last year too but I don't know if they'll come back so I've bought more

Good to hear you are pleased with your tree @Plantminded It already looks good there and will be gorgeous in the summer months. I did consider a crabapple Evereste at some point myself, but a different crabapple I had in the past did not fare well with the windy conditions of my garden so I decided against another crabapple (though Evereste is said to be better for that and looking at the structure of yours, I can see why).
