A bit of a cheat but the Orange pansies are new this year. The top was a sad bedraggled basket which had not overwintered at all well. About 6 weeks ago,I trimmed it up and replanted it in a bigger basket and put 6 orange pansies around the edge. It is coming along quite nicely now and will be staying up until the real Summer ones are ready to show off:

Looking forward to seeing yours soon please,

Thank you Fern - I shall continue to dead head the pansies and train the various ivy stems appropriately and weather permitting, it should look quite handsome in a month,

We've been getting our baskets ready.

Our winter pansy baskets have been transferred to the baskets in the top of our big pots.

The summer baskets are being hardened off ready for hanging for Open Day. We keep the chains hooked into short bamboo canes in the baskets. That saves us searching for the chains when the plants have grown over them

Thanks @Jenny namaste but I don't know. I'll have to ask the oracle :heehee:

Last year the baskets were much more voluptuous as we had a milder early part of the year. :)

              That will be nepeta Jenny.
Mine are still snuggled up in the green shed . There are 8 baskets and bowers in there somewhere! They will come out this weekend after the forecast mid week cold snap . I seem to be nearly two weeks behind this year :frown:

Lovely baskets Shiney , congratulate your wife she has a talent for a good floral mix :dbgrtmb:
Are you legally allowed to use "voluptuous" to describe a flower basket. Thought it was to describe other attributes.

Blimey, I am well behind this year - I have literally nothing that is basket fit yet; still all far too small

I am so far back with things like petunias, I have had to concede semi-defeat and use a combination of vouchers and offers to get some petunias and fuchsias from T&M (not my first choice, but they claim to have stock still, and the offers made it a semi-reasonable risk.

I received a plug plant catalogue from Unwins on Monday if you're interested, they obviously still have stock but I don't know what their plants are like, I always grow from seed. They seem to be prompt on delivery though. :)

I've stuck the order in now, so kinda stuck with it, but thanks for the offer. The annoying bit of it is that I have around 200 seedlings, but they are just at pricking out stage now, so the best I can hope for I think is that they are used for a second flush of flowers?

In absolute fairness to T&M, some of theirs have already arrived from one of their freebie offers (just pay the P&P), and with a couple of weeks of pampering they are coming along nicely. Fingers crossed the rest are as good
