I kept it cold (outdoors or in the greenhouse) until just before christmas then moved it to the bathroom. It is better than last year (when it was in the cool porch) but as I say, a little etiolated.

I bought some more from B&Q later in the year and they are in the shed. I want to see if they will wake up in the spring and grow outdoors in a pot. If it works I want to pot them up with Bessera elegans.

Easter Cactus about to burst into bloom - sorry, that's the only name I know it by.

It looks like the Thanksgiving Cactus (Schlumbergera truncata) which is a relative of the Christmas Cactus (Schlumbergera X 'Buckleyi'). The Easter Cactus (Rhipsalidopsis gaertnerii with scarlet flowers, Rhipsalidopsis X 'Graeseri' in other colours) has different flowers.

Wow! Ok!! Very interesting, thank you. Never even heard of a Thanksgiving Cactus (and I do have Christmas Cactus, which duly flowered on time).

Well, in true "M" style: I'm giving thanks that it has not only survived my care, but cares enough to flower at Easter :heehee: To my mind, that makes it an Easter Cactus (this year, at least) :heehee: I'll take another shot when the flower has fully opened

You're on! I actually bought two Easter Cactus at the time; this year this one is flowering but the other is just green. Can't even recall the colour of the other one.

I only found out about Thanksgiving Cactus TODAY!!!! :roflol:
That still makes you one step ahead :th scifD36: I'll catch you up ... one day :snooty:
