You've gone all out on zinnia Pete can't say they do to well for me, I grow them and pot them out to be never seen again. I got some seeds off moles in spring I were pleased with the germination so I'll be getting more this time round.

Nice trip out for you Caroline , I've been a long admirer of vernocia marietta but not found a spot for one yet. I am sure I got loads of salvia confertiflora cutting , I didn't label them so I am still wondering what salvia they are .

No @DiggersJo - I don't have too much money! But I have been working and not buying plants for ages, so when I got the chance... And for the number of interesting plants I got, that's not expensive.
Unfortunately I also want to order some roses soon as they're cheaper bare root. And @Mrs Hillard pointed me at Style roses who have quite a selection. The credit card will probably be suffering soon!

Yes @Perki , I do like zinnia, this strain is pretty tall and has large flowers that almost resemble dahlias but each flower lasts a lot longer.
Smaller quantities of each would have been good as I don't really need large amounts of each.

A nice outing., Caroline. Do you have a big garden? Not sure I can remember pictures of it.

Hi @Victoria - it's probably not big enough! I do have 18 acres of woodland as well as the garden, so I will probably be moving some of the bigger stuff out there to leave room. I'm planning to put my fruit trees there and create a mixed orchard in it. I don't show the garden pics because it's a bit of a mess - I am far too keen to grow lots of different things.

Pictures with a teensy bit of mess are perfectly acceptable ... indeed encouraging for some of us!

Just picked up this salvia "cherry lips" half price at B&Q. It smells amazing, like blackcurrants. 2024-10-01_15-29-26.jpg

Nice purchase @Escarpment. The leaves of other Lips varieties smell like blackcurrants too, but Cherry and Amethyst are nice and strong!

That is HUGE. My Hot Lips didn't do anything this year. Think we were/are too hot too long although in afternoon shade.

I bought a bare root Hot Lips in the Spring but it didn't grow, so I'm happy to have this one. Well worth £4.50!

I don’t like paying money for plants ,but have always wanted a Campsis and just had to cough up for this.So looking forward to seeing it in all it’s glory.

I bought a campsis last year and thought it had croaked over winter. It eventually got going and is looking really well now; I've just put up some new wires to tie it in but I hadn't realised it also clings to the brickwork. Very much looking forward to seeing it mature

It will mark the wall, mine did and although its long gone the marks are still there.

Well worth growing though, I think Madam Galen is a hybrid that can be slightly tender.
