      Cross Common is worth a visit too if you're down here. Specialists in tender, rare and unusual plants. I try to go there once or twice a year....prob 20 miles from me :)

        I rescued a pink topaz aster and 24 pansies from Homebase clearance shelf. The aster is bursting out of the pot so will probably split x 4 to bed up with the purple dome asters which are making a ribbon of colour through my cottage garden border. Common but reliable and they do well here.

        The pansies are already in the window box that has been empty for a day:smile:

                    I bought a sack barrow from Screwfix to move my heavy pots. Its a sturdy one that will take weights up to 150 kilos and it was already made up which was a bonus - I was expecting a self assembly job:smile:

                                That's a very reasonable price for Zebra grass :blue thumb:. It's an excellent grass that is tough as old boots, is happy with most soils and positions although is happiest in sunny, moist, well drained soil. At the size you have bought it, it should establish quickly. Don't prune it back until early Spring (unless it's looking tatty) but don't leave it later than that as the new stems will start to grow then.

                                Once well established you may find, after a few years, that it's getting a bit big for the site. That's easily solved as it is quite simple to split with a spade. Then you have some established plants to put elsewhere, or give away or sell. :) We sell ours on Open Day for £2.50.
