Hi, moved in to a new place. The soil has a pH between 5.5 & 7 apparently and is quite dry soil. I have two questions.

    1. Could anyone recommend shrubs for a windy spot in winter but will be under some trees in summer so therefore shady.

    2. Could anyone recommend shrubs for an open windy site? I have a large area around a big pond to complete but it is very windy all year and is also in full sun.

    Thanks in advance

If you want wind, just grow Jerusalem Artichokes. :yess: Cheers, Tony.

      Hello

Have a look at Elaeagnus. x ebbingei is very hardy, fast growing and can be grown in wind and shade, as can pungens maculata, which is slower growing and variegated.

Viburnum Tinus can also be grown in shade.

Go to Shrubsdirect and look at the hedging plants - should provide further info.

Also look at Crocus plant finder - you can filter by different specifications, including 'special conditions' (if you select 'windy' it brings up various different shrubs).
