I bought a Gunnera last November to plant near my pond, plant looked healthy, had 1 green leaf about 6 inches across. Re potted into a larger pot and put it in the greenhouse over winter. Leaf fell off as I would expect. So about 2 weeks ago I planted it outside, now all the new leaves (3 of them) are tiny, they are yellow looking and brown and crispy around the edges. I am watering well, keeping soil moist, its not in the sun all day; dont know what I am doing wrong. :(
Have a look at link below

    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks

Wow that really does look sick. In fact I am not even sure it is a gunnera ? A baby should have nice green spikey stems and leaves. Do you know what type it is ?

Hi you would of been better leaving it where it was, they don't need to be brought in over winter. As BM says are you sure it's a gunnera?

Looks very much like it, just looked through paypal account and it was advertised as 1 small 3 inch Gunnera plant or giant rhubarb.
Think i might put it in the compost bin and start again.

Sorry mate :( they are fairly easy to come by at reasonable prices. I would have sent you one but they are a bit huge now, and I gave my last baby away last week.

Gunnera Manicata is what you want. They can be grown easily and are quite hardy given a light fleece in winter. I grow mine in a few places including pots. I like to grow Gunnera Manicata with Gunnera Magellanica fringing the pot.

Dug it up today, bottom of root looks a bit soft, but nothing else appears wrong, unless anybody else can see anything. I have put it in a pot, see what happens. New proper one on its way

I would pot it up and see how it gets on. Don't drown it, as a rheum wont like that. Just keep it moist and see how it progresses for a further ID when it is a bit healthier. [IMG]

Just for info, whilst looking at my plant in its new home, a pot, i noticed a greenfly on the soil. I looked underneath the half dead leaves and found it infested with greenfly. Maybe that has been the problem. We will see.
