      Holy mackerel.

Apart from the obvious wonder at the fact that anyone could possibly survive that, one other thought springs to mind. How fast must he have been driving to be able to skid sideways and still have enough speed left to slice a car in half.

Lets say he was doing 70mph when he lost control. As soon as the car went sideways, it would have started to decelerate quite rapidly. If the car was roadworthy and not a 'cut and shut', there's no way it should have ripped in half as a result of a sideways impact within the speed limit. Mashed and well and truly bent, without a doubt, but not split.

I think there's more to this story than has been initially reported.
