A “bargain” convolvulous cneorum has almost died on me!
Why? It had the minutest root system encased in one of those awful hessian bags.
When I bought the plant in the spring it was of a reasonable but small size and didn’t know about the hessian. The roots simply did not, could not, grow through it.
I have removed the hessian, cut back the plant and repotted. Hopefully it will recover.:noidea:
I always remove this hessian on plugs etc.
Come on you growers ......pot your plugs into something else. You know they are problematic

I wish they all just used root trainer pots if they must use something full stop and that way it never happens but I expect the mesh is cheap.

Cheap maybe but that's not the point. It doesn't work, plus it's plastic and we all know that eventually the ever smaller particles end up in the watercourse, poisoning fish, sea birds and other sea life.
