Hi, my name is Mandy, and I live in the centre of France with my husband, son, a dog,two cats, three pygmy goats, two pot bellied pigs, nine sheep and several chickens.
When we moved here it didnâ??t have any set 'garden' though I consider myself very lucky to have 7 acres to play with. Some flatish areas, a small orchard, a small wood, a stream, a spring that fills a lavoir, a sloping field with ancient oak trees, an overgrown and very boggy area and a large flat field of grass. The soil is heavy clay and full of rock. And I mean rock! Including huge boulders of granite, but you can't have everything.:)
I'm working on an area/garden at a time to make it more manageable and less daunting!
Starting from the house and working my way out. I'm currently on garden number 2.
Most of my gardening experience has been with light, very sandy soil in Dorset. So this soil is some sort of nightmare for me.

I'm in no way an expert on gardening. There's been lots of trial and error. I'm learning all the time.
I hope to find ideas and help on here and who knows, I might even be of help to someone else.:thumb:

    Welcome to GC Mandy.

Sandy soil in Dorset? Must be the East, where I am it is heavy clay like you have now 'En France'.:(
