Hullo, first time gardener, just started last summer 2010.
Got a shed, greenhouse, coldframe, dug a pond, planted lots of plants, got the coldest winter in eons... killed nearly everything... starting again.

    Hi and welcome.

Sounds like a bit of a setback, but all is not lost. At the very least these mishaps teach us things for our next attempt, but also maybe everything isn't dead. Annuals might have set seed before they were wiped out, and any perennials still might be alive underground, just waiting patiently for the signal to send up new shoots. You might be pleasantly surprised in a couple of weeks or so as the weather warms up a bit more.

Hi Xoot, welcome to Gardeners Corner!! Sounds like you were busy before the winter set in, but you sound
determined anyway. A lot of us lost plants over the winter, even plants that had stood the other bad winters.
All you can do is try to cover them up and protect them somehow.

I xoot from the South East of Scotland :) Likewise to some things that suffered in the harsh winter though i'd not got to the stage of buying any plants, just lost the ones I'd been left by the previous owners.

Go ahead with noob questions, chances are there'll be another noob like me needing to know the same things.
