I'm a bit worried about some spots that have appeared on my new pear tree leaves. I'm wondering if this odd flying insect has anything to do with it as there are loads flying around my plot.

Can anyone identify either the disease or the insect?

I think that is it, thanks. Doesn't seem to be harmful which is good.

The black marks on your pear leaves could be either scab or pear leaf fleck. The treatment is the same. Spray according to the packet instructions with a fungicide. I use a copper sulphate based one, but there are others widely availabel.
