I'm just starting to put a simple spreadsheet together for our allotment plot, just so I can record expenditure, then harvest's, cost that monetarily to have a final figure at the end of the season.

That's pretty straightforward to do but I found myself wondering what do others do or use, if anything at all.

So, do you record in any way, any part of your gardening at all and if so, how?

    Regards

    Steve...:)

I record my planting plan on an Excel sheet . It shows what I am planting , where seeds were bought from , % germination and number pricked out . I use symbols on a calendar to show sowing date , pricking out date and planting out date . It works fine and is a simple record going back over the years

I use Excel, one sheet for each year to track what I've sown, when, germination, pricking out etc etc. Most important for fruit/veg I also track my yield and taste scores so I know what to grow the following year. I also have a separate sheet for each year with a diagrammatic layout of my veg plot to aid rotation, I've started doing the same for my allotment. Finally I record buying lists and over the winter try and find the cheapest places to buy my supplies (ala Scrungee style)

I keep it all in my head (and look at my stored photos) but I don't need much info.

I don't rotate my crops, always grow much more than we need and sell the surplus.

Apart from buying runner bean seeds (just bought 520 for £5.60) all our other veggie seeds are given to us (lots of generous people out there with surplus seeds :dbgrtmb:) sent to us to do trials on them.

Not been at it for too long, but keep it in my head, plus I have a copy of my allotment map, that I print and each year rotate it along, Tatties, Brassicas, other and move it along
I have settled on Tatties Red Duke of York, Pentland Dell, and Sempster
Brassicas, cabbage, cauli, Broccoli, and Kayle
Then beans, carrots and onions, along with a patch for lettuce, radish, rocket and Neeps
Toms in the greenhouse with cucumbers
Strawberry bed, mint bed and that is about it
