OK, I may have offended my next door neighbour who has a campo and I realise he must have plenty of experience but here is what I have done and it doesn't look as though he is pleased. lol

He came about a week or so ago - would I like some frescas (strawberries) at Christmas. I said yes. Following day he arrived with plants plus runners. He planted one big plastic tub with some of the plants. Here's where I may have come unstuck...... As the days went on the leaves went brown and runners began dying off, but I could see that the plants had taken. So...... I cut the runners off together with the brown leaves. Not very pleased today.

He also planted a huge hand painted pot with the same so..... I went and bought a trough, a narrow one thinking that in between I would plant one or two beans. (I had my eye on a Datura for the painted pot) Anyway, again he is not so pleased that I have transferred them from the hand painted pot to the trough and cut off the runners and dead leaves. Most of the plants are showing growth and I am watering them every day and understand that I can give them a bit of tomato feed every two weeks.

I was only tidying it up...... Is he just kicking off or have I really done wrong..... I thought leaving England I'd had enough of flipping gardening. On the plus side, I am enjoying fig scrumping up the mountains.

Any advice anyone can give me will be appreciated.

Hi Barnie and welcome to GC.

Am I to assume you are in Southern Spain?

My strawberry plants are now dying off ... it's not the season for them here but maybe it is in Spain .... :cnfs:

Do you mean a Datura or a Brugmansia for the painted pot? They are of the same family but completely different critters .. the Datura (Devil's Trumpets) being short-lived (with trumpets pointing up) and the Brugmansia (Angel's Trumpets) being long-lived (with trumpets hanging down).

I don't know how long you've been there, but we here are coming up to our rain season and it is the time for planting.
