    Suggestion:

Could someone who knows what has been changed / fixed post a message announcing it?

e.g. Some folk were getting errors whenever they did a particular thing and will probably be avoiding doing it - unless someone tells them to try again (Richard did post a message explaining that he had disabled something pro temp)

    I've noticed:

Arcade Games added to menu (and associated settings in OPTIONS)
New Posts link in the main menu :thumb:
Smileys no longer interfering with the edit window :thumb:
Attachments now show a thumbnail :thumb:
My Account : View Profile fixed :thumb:
"Box Expand" added to editor :thumb: - This is brilliant, thanks guys! (Just drag the thumb-tack to make the box bigger for typing into)

well done to all working on fixing things.

That is why this area has been created by me, so that if people have an issue with a specific thing, we can work on getting it sorted.

Without knowing what their problem is, we can't fix it.

    Thanks for your input though.

I will see about getting a list made up of all items that have been fixed/changed

Thanks. Just to have it all in one place here are all the things I have found. I'm not bothered whether they get fixed, or not (would help to know anything you are not planning to fix then I'll ignore it), I just want to point out things that might not have been seen. Please feel free to edit my post if anything here is inappropriate.

Attachments on imported posts are shown at the bottom of the post, but the attachments don't work. Example:
    gardenerscorner.co.uk/forum/Thread-Greenhouse-Temperatures-100-deg.html?pid=317633#pid317633

here's what I see on that post:

and if I click on "greenhouse.jpg" I get this:

:gnthb: :thmb: :yho:  smilies don't work (they are ones I have seen on recently written posts, not stoneage ones)

Some styles of links to old threads don't work. For example the link in this post:
    gardenerscorner.co.uk/forum/Thread-Silly-questions-about-raised-beds.html?pid=378772#pid378772

You may want to consider removing [IMG] from the editor toolbar - its tooltip shows "undefined" and it doesn't appear to do anything (I assume its intention is for Software Programming sites, and thus probably not relevant here)

As far as I can see "Like" shows the date in American mm-dd-yyyy, rather than the format selected in User CP - bit confusing, although I don't suppose the date that someone did a "Like" is especially important :)

Personally I would like links within the content of a post to be in a colour that is different to the colour of the text. I have manually set the ones above to blue/underlined so that they are clearly visible. I think it makes them easier to see for users, but also having the links in normal text colour means that spammers will be able to hide links in innocent looking posts and we probably won't spot them. Here is A TEST LINK as an example.

Could users be encouraged to re-enter their Location? It helps a lot when people ask questions to know where abouts they live

Might be worth suggesting they check they are happy with the choice in "Default Thread Subscription Mode" too (the default is to subscribe, which some people have not wanted), and "Daylight Saving Time correction:" which I think has been set to "Always use DST correction" and, if I have understood it correctly, might be better set to "Automatically detect" (otherwise the time of posting will show one hour ahead during Winter Time in UK)

Indeed, just wondered if you wanted to encourage/remind them to do that? You've made some nice pictorial tutorials in the past :thumb: (Well, I think it was you! someone did :) )

    Just a thought.
Could we have a background other than white. I find white very stark. (That's just me.)

No "Last post" ICON either on the Forum Index (that used to take you to the bottom of a thread). So now have to click on the last page "1, 2, 3, ..." number, and then scroll down to the bottom.

Funny how you miss things like that, I used to use that quite a lot. Read a thread, and then a short while later thing "Ding! I know" and then want to get to the end to read the last post, or two, and then reply.

Kristen .. in my right hand column of New Posts I have a Last Post next to your name and it strangely takes me to the last post ... yours above ... :WINK1:

I too, like roders, miss being able to read the first line or beginning of the sentence of a posting so I can decide whether I want to read it or not ... but there we go ... I often 'open and close' now. :heehee:

PS I see you are an Administrator now Marley as opposed to a Moderator ... congratulations ... (my Smilies don't work in Full Edit so I can't put a thumbs up).

Also, when I go into New Posts I get all of Today's Posts, albeit that the New Ones are highlighted.

Brill! Thanks. I do wish that the styling had been set up for links to be a different colour. Because the links are just Plain Black Text the only way to know what is a link is if you happen to wave your mouse over it :(

I would never have guessed that

    Last post: Kristen

had a link on "Last post". Thanks.

"Also, when I go into New Posts I get all of Today's Posts, albeit that the New Ones are highlighted."

I think the difference is that New Posts only shows you posts for your current session - i.e. if you walk away for 20 minutes or so (don't know the exact time) your "session" will terminate, and New Posts will only be things newer than that. Whereas Today's Post is everything in the last 24 hours (or whatever "today" is defined as)

If you came back from holiday you would have to be sure to process New Posts without interruption [as that would terminate your session] 'coz I reckon there would be no way to see what you were following otherwise (other than visiting each forum in turn). The old site's New Posts just had a divide between Current Session and Older, and you could go back through older post (that were new for you) going back days and weeks (and the ones you had not read stayed there - until you pressed "Mark all posts as read")

I too would prefer that New Posts only showed me things I had not read - 'coz then its a list of "To Read"

I don't want to rock the boat, but all those subtleties that the old vBulletin forum had made my time on the site more productive

    Evening Kirsten.

I am a 'colour freak' and tend to use green when talking about or idenitfying plants and purple for other reasons ... strangely these are my two favourite colours ... :heehee: As above when you quoted me it came up purple ... rather than as you say all black and unidentifiable basically and quite difficult to read ... :rolleyespink: I used to change my font to Comic Sans but that's not possible now so I just go with the colour change.

:) Is this the one you mean roders? I find smilies difficult to get up at times now so use the control keys and for this it is : and ) ...

Ah ha, I see what I think Kristen was saying somewhere along the line .. now that I have added a new post below a post I have already made, it says I have edited my original post, which in fact I have not!

Yup ... that's it! And this one will be merged witht he one I made just now (which will be tough for you if you already read the earlier one, because this one will NOT alter the thread date and it won't appear on the new Posts list [if you already read my previous one)

But there again all my best material always winds up on the cutting room floor :hehe:

What no hehe emoticon? ah ... its now heehee :heehee:
