Oh yes .... let's hope so. They look gorgeous in your pic. Have just ordered some salvia farinacea seascape seeds and hoping for some good results. I haven't tried growing salvia from seed before though. I had the common red annual salvia last year bought as plug plants and the colour just popped for months and months ...... Red isn't featuring in my colour scheme this year though so trying the purple/silver combo.

Come on you lot, post some photos of your salvias! I know many of you here grow them and I desperately need my annual fix of salvia porn! :roflol:

Salvia 'Caradonna' just starting to flower with Astrantia 'Roma' and Geranium cantabrigiense 'Biokovo' in the background. Then Salvia 'Nachtvlinder', I like the way the flowers look with the foliage of my newly-planted actaea but it seems to have a high population of froghoppers on it this year, are they ever detrimental to salvias? I only seem to get them early in the flowering period. :dunno:

@Nikolaos Mine are only just getting going; Amisted in the cold greenhouse is just coming into flower. The large Salvia corrugata, outside since 2017, didn't come through the winter it may shoot in a month or so, but I'm not hopeful fortunately overwintered some cuttings under cover.
The only exception to the late start are the Salvia microphylla varieties "Kew Red" in particular is a mass of flower. Picture to follow later.

@NigelJ So it's not just me then Nigel, my Salvia 'African Sky' is usually in flower by the very start of June and often in late May, no sign of a single flower yet! :frown:

Everything is so far behind this year that my Nachtvlinder has only just opened its first blooms today which is about six weeks late.............

Wonderful selection of salvias @longk, I particularly like greggi 'Joy', that's rather gorgeous! :love30:

Wow, can't believe that, mine has quite a few flowers already and I'm in Nottinghamshire, I would have expected yours to be a fair bit earlier in Oxfordshire!

There are still a few to come. I agree about 'Joy', it is a gem. It is a cutting in its first full season but next spring I'll take some cuttings - I mark one up for you if you haven't got one by then.

You'd be surprised, we all too frequently record Englands overnight low in this area. -6°c was the low this year on several nights.

I actually bought a salvia plant a few weeks ago, not grown any for years. I will put a picture up when it flowers.
