    Good afternoon I have some Sweet Williams in a raised border have grown very large but all foliage,have not flowered at all or do I dispose of them,thank you:smile:

      they will give you glorious blooms all summer next year Woo....i had the same thing with mine ...i thought wots going on 'ere.:scratch:...just a great BIG blooming or ...should i say NOT blooming patch of green :th scifD36:...OUT they were coming as they were just a BIG green dip in a very floriferous border ....then a friend gently reminded me that they are... Bi ennial :doh: So i did give them a reprieve naturally as it wasn't their fault bless um ;) And when they did bloom :wow: So wouldn't be without them now:wub2: Always got a pot or ....6 potted up in advance ready for next year :heehee:

        Bee Happy is spot on....they are biennials WO. However, how old are they? How woody? They can be short term perennials but far better sown one year for flowering the next.....just like wallflowers :). Should look great next spring :)
        Good idea about potting up for next year Bee Happy :)

          Good afternoon @BeeHappy and @Verdun my dear friends as I have 8 large terracotta pots I shall transfer them to the pots(thanks for the idea BeeHappy) as I need the room in the raised bed ,many thanks my friends your help and advice is very much appreciated,enjoy your day:smile::blue thumb:

                  I love Sweet Williams :wub2:
                  They self seed very freely, woo. Although they are Spring flowers, I have a couple which have been flowering for most of the summer. Lovely scent to them too, so pop those pots near to a sunny window/door and enjoy their blooms and fragrance in a few months time :thumbsup:

                    Some pics of mine on this previous thread Sweet William (blooms were cut for donating to a charity plant sale). They are very easy to save seed from.

                      I always find that they're best in their 3rd or 4th year. By that time you've got a nice clump which you can cut from without spoiling the display.

                        So glad I read this totally forgot they were biennial.. was about to lob the old out and put new in. I bough some from bnq last year and they only took off this summer. Saves me a few quid! :biggrin:

                          Shake any seed heads where you think you might like them another year ... they are quite hardy and you should never need to buy another plant/packet of seed ever again! :thumbsup:
