    Evening all.

While out shopping today, I chanced upon what I think is a bargain at Wilkinson's. They have a greenhouse approx 6ft long, tall enough to strand up in, and I can't remember how wide. It has shelves, sorry, 'staging' (posh greenhouse term for shelves).

It is only £36 so I bagged myself one.

I don't expect it to last any length of time, and of course it will need to be well secured to prevent the wind from taking it, but for £36 I'll be satisfied if it only lasts for this year. That will buy me time to get the rest of the garden sorted ready to build a more permanent greenhouse next year, and of course if all else fails, it will be somewhere to sit and have a brew while er indoors is watching some intolerable drivel on the box.

I find I spend a fair bit of time having a brew & a smoke in my one, its just nice to sit & watch the birds from.

Yep bargain! and when the plastic finally succumbs to the elements you can re-use all that shelving, it's great :yess:

There wont be much bird watching to do from mine I'm afraid. I have an elderly lady next door one way, and the church hall where bingo and tea dances happen just across the gap the other way.

I bought two for £24 each from Greenfingers on the net, sound like the same size. Put one up last year and used it all season and it has withstood all the winter gales and snow etc. Well worth its money. The first one had a tiny little split in the plastic I phoned them up and told them and they sent me a spare plastic covering which I have still not used having repaired the tiny split with tape:). Not bad for the money!

I do that in my conservatory - I have power there, so I can put a light bulb in the bottom for some extra heat, but I reckon you could put a 10L container of "boiling" water in there, and an old duvet over the top (or perhaps a thermal Mylar emergency-blanket thingie, and that would keep it toasty overnight.

Wrong sort of Birds, Ziggy lives out in the wilds about 100 miles from civilisation :)

Only experience and thus advise I can offer, is make sure it is WELL anchored, Possibly use some 1x1 as stakes in each corner, and tie the frame well to them,or either all the pots will have fallen off the shelves one morning or the greenhouse will not be there at all

i had one of these a few years ago.
when the cover split i replaced it with sheets of perspex screwed to the. frame and it is still up and doing well.

I am quite interested in one of these, can someone please tell me if the top frame is strong enough to hang hanging plants on?

My £10 mini-greenhouse isn't strong enough to do that Val. Maybe the bigger one clueless got is stronger?
