To be fair, if it were me and I had a ticket for a potential win of that size (which was double that), I would never have kept it in a pocket anyway! ;)

Camelot will honour it if forensic prove it, they have CCTV in the shop, They know what time the ticket was bought,
Suspicious that although the numbers were correct the bar code and date are destroyed

I tried that last week, I put up the right numbers for next week to get a ticket, destroyed the bar code and date, then did not have enough cash for the train fare to the damn shop

As an aside, IF I won that much, I would dish out £5m amongst us on here, then depending on the tax man how to go about sharing it with family and friends (massive tax problem)

I want to share it out BUT If I give it away and I die within seven years massive tax problems for all
I want to share it out BUT I would like say £20m for me and £13m shared out among family and friends (Massive tax problem)

To be honest, I trust my Daughters so I would declare it was there joint syndicate, so equal shares, give me a couple of million, and give friends including on here a nice sum

That way when I drop dead within seven years it would not affect anyone, and I could struggle along on a couple of million in that period

Out of curiosity Jack, what's the 7 years thing? Let's say you have no cash but you have assets. Does your 7 thing apply?

If you sign/give over money/buildings etc to someone you have to live for seven years, if you don't then the person that got the money/buildings would have to pay inheritance tax, lots of farmers sign the farm over to there kids
                if i got that right

But don't forget that Inheritance Tax only applies after £325,000.

If you sign over, say, a house, don't have a falling out if you still live there

What I think is crazy is that you work and pay tax,you buy stuff you pay VAT tax,you get a pension and probably pay tax if you go over your allowance and then when you die ALL your assets plus savings that you have worked hard for and paid tax on is valued for Probate and if it goes over the £325,000(£650,000 joint) Inheritance tax band then you will have to pay tax on any amount over that so you have to make sure you either get rid of most of your money and your assets before you die because if you die before the seven year rule is up it is calculated on a sliding scale.

I think they can also get you even if you give your house away to your kids before you die but still live in the property yourself especially if you live there rent free but can't remember the exact details:scratch:

If I was in charge, while it was one claimant I would do my best to verify that claim, but as soon as a few more crawled out of the woodwork, I'd say that's it. No ticket? no money. Oh dear what a pity never mind.
