    and now I find the EU are trying to rule what plants we can grow and what seed we use.
    EU is preparing legislation that will make it illegal to grow crops that are not on a list of approved seeds? A list that currently 60% dominated by big corporations like Monsanto, AstraZenecar and others? The pros list are basically only hybrids - which means that you can not take next year's seed from his crop. Furthermore, it will not only be forbidden to sell other seeds than those already mentioned, but also to grow. "File sharing" in the area of seeds will become a criminal act. This means that people be even less able to influence what you eat, when you can not even decide what to grow. It also means that the varieties that are historically interesting will disappear, even varieties that can withstand our climate. This means that poor people who live off what they grow is referred to in the seedtrades discretion in terms of pricing, which can be costly where there are few players.

    The forbidden seed! How many here know that the EU is preparing legislation that will make it illegal to grow crops that are not on a list of approved seeds? A list that currently 60% dominated by big corporations like Monsanto, AstraZeneca, Bayer and others? Today, there are three lists, one for professional growth, one of the endangered species and one for amateur cultivation. The latter two should be removed. The pros list are basically only hybrids - which means that you can not take next year's seed from his crop. Furthermore, it not only be forbidden to sell other seeds than those already mentioned, but also to grow. "File sharing" in the area of seeds will become a criminal act. This means that people be even less able to influence what you eat, when you can not even decide what to grow. It also means that the varieties that are historically interesting will disappear, even varieties that can withstand our climate, because the market is too small for the majors to be interesting. This means that poor people who live off what they grow is referred to in the seedtrades discretion in terms of pricing, which can be costly where there are few players. What do we think about this? I think the EU have controlled seed for crops for quite some time, I cant see them ever eradicating what amateur gardeners get up to in their own gardens.

    On the Ecig subject, I can only speak as an ex smoker, but I dont think the idea would appeal to me of smoking some strange electronic thing.
    I'd either stick with the real thing or give up.

    With reference to the EU's proposal there was a documentary on a while back on Monsanto's policies and how they affect farmers in America - they have a complete stranglehold on the industry there and will put any farmer out of business that dares to gather seeds to use the following year. Cross contamination is common, so you may well be using Monsanto seeds without knowing it. You either buy them again from Monsanto or you get sued into oblivion - it's a protection racket. Absolutely disgusting.

    Big Pharma have caused many deaths in India with farmers not understanding the contracts signed with Monsanto not allowing them to save seed for the following year as they have always done ;

    After use of Monsanto’s BT cotton in 2002 the rate of suicide in Indian farmers increased drastically. 90% of Indian cotton farmers changed to Monsanto’s Bt crop hoping that Bt crop are pest resistant and they do not have to buy pesticides. However after a while Bt cotton’s pests resistant quality started fading away and pests adapted so farmers had no choice but to buy and use Monsanto's pesticides. The fact that farmers have to buy new seeds every year, the costly use of GM seeds, use of pesticides and great reduction in crop value have often times left farmers bankrupt and as a result many farmers are falling into the endless cycle of debt, depression, hopelessness and despair and they have no choice but to ends their lives. The figures provided by NY University School of Law show that just in 2009 alone, 17,638 of farmers committed suicide.
