Although it has now been reclassified as an Iris (I.tuberosa) I still refer to it as Hermodactylus tuberosus................

One of the real highlights of spring for me. It needs a summer bake to perform best and can take two or three years to settle in but well worth the effort IMO.
The common name is the Widow Iris.

Yes Longk my pot of your Iris is looking fabulous:hapfeet:and full of flowers but I did "cheat" by keeping them in my unheated greenhouse all winter. I am going to split up what you kindly gave me after they have finished flowering, 1/2 I'll repot for safety the other 1/2 is going to be planted in the garden to get on with all Scotland has to throw at them...poor bu..ers!

My first one this year. :) I have to say the camera hasn't captured the true colour, which is more of a purple shade than it appears on these photos.

Unknown Iris with a lovely sweet perfume. Part of it's parent plant was persuaded to leave America by my mum many years ago after she holidayed there. :)
