Not really but when you look through the open door , I’m reminded of the film.
We’ve never had a problem with security, we live in a road in a quiet suburban area with houses all with bay windows, as it “doesn’t go anywhere” anyone walking past apart from residents usually the occasional mums with a push chair can be observed is an “event.”
Our garden is surrounded by six foot high fences, apart from here, the gap between the house and garage. This is in my opinion the most vulnerable area.

This is the unprepossessing side entrance to our garden.

I replaced the quite substantial seven 3” x 2” timber and trellis fence and gate two years ago, with this more substantial eight foot effort. Similar construction, 3” x 2” stretchers between the kitchen wall and the garage 4” x 4” posts with a trellis top. The stretcher at the top of the door is doubled up for additional rigidity. The cladding is “feather board.”

The fence stands on a low two-brick wall to keep it clear of surface water.

At the risk of offending those who are as capable as am I, but for the benefit of those who have never tackled such a thing before, but might like to give it a go, I’ll explain about the door. The secret is to build the frame around the door. Then you get a perfect fit.
The door was purchased ready-made from B & Q for I think about fifty quid. I cut the arched architrave out of a piece of scrap wood. Good old Dulux Woodsheen is the finish.

This is our new addition, (nearest pot to the camera) arrived today I’ve already potted it out and fitted its “squirrel protector.”

It’s just over four feet high. It’s an olive tee to complement our orange and lemon trees. Good value, thirty quid plus carriage from the Ideal World shopping channel (my wife’s favourite TV programme, or one of them).

Doghouse, I must assume that those wheelie bins are not in that position all the time? They make an ideal means to get into your property if they are.:old: By the way, I really like the way it's been done, nicely finished too.:gnthb:

You have a point, but I've always thought how would they get out?

I've got two pir floodlights on the front of the house which are set to come on if "anyone puts their nose over my curtilage." So I don't worry too much. But perhaps I should.
