Xmas puds all reduced to only 10p each at Sainsburys, regardless of size. UBD Mar 2019.

On NYE one local Tesco had reduced loads of cheese (especially President Brie) by 90%, but there wasn't any reduced in their other local store, today out of curiousity I looked at the UBDs in the 2nd store and saw what they had done :yikes:

Buy beer, BUY BEER !!! :yikes: They give it away round here (if you know how to do it):

                1) Look out for yellow stickered reduced beer that doesn't have all the full price barcodes covered up.
                2) Go to a normal checkout, DO NOT use a self self scan till.
                3) Check your receipt after paying and if you've been charged full price go to customer services.
                4) Complain you've been overcharged.
                5) Receive 'double the difference' (DTD) back (If item should have been 50% off, it'll work out free [1], if 75% off you get paid 25% of full price to take it off their hands.

[1] If the full price contains an uneven number of pennies, due to rounding up to the nearest penny when reducing, after DTD the total cost will be 1p, still not bad for 4 cans of Speckled Hen. I've had 20 x can packs of cider for 1p in the past.

recently discovered something. the dishwasher tablets/ or pods (whatever you want to call them) anyway, went in to the Dollar store to avoid the crowds day after Christmas at Walmart to get some. there was a package of the type I use, 4 of them for One Dollar. got them. then the following week went to a regular grocery store, they had some on sale, I did the math, the package come out to be that each pod was 37 cents each. compared to the dollar store, LOL. went back to the dollar store and bought up 5 packages. saved me money. been talking to co-workers who say they always buy their detergents at the dollar store.

Inexpensive white vinegar is a cheap substitute for Rinse Aid.

We obtain 4 gallon ex-rinse aid (and ex-dishwasher detergent) containers from a local hotel to use for carrying water to our plot (no mains water there) and they normally have about half a litre left in them.

Our previous dishwasher didn't work nearly as well [1] using branded dishwasher salt as it did using the cheapest 'value' stuff, which was incredibly frustrating when we found packets of the expensive stuff reduced to less than cheaper types.

[1] Not only did it result in inferior cleaning, but also produced error messages as it didn't recognize any salt as being present.

Yet another supermarket uses the 'confusing' excuse to stop their customers saving money Waitrose to scrap 'confusing' pick-your-own-offers loyalty scheme

Using 'My Picks' in conjunction with other offers/promotions/coupons/cashback/try me free/etc. was about all we now buy at Waitrose, and didn't find it at all confusing, over the last week we've been buying a product there which worked out that we got paid over £1 for every one we took away.

The My Picks saving didn't affect the total spend the till saw, so helped with conditional spend thresholds, free newspapers, etc., plus My Picks savings came off at full price on multi-saves and even on reduced stuff.

Although only on 10 items, multiple accounts and split shops enabled taking full advantage of the system.
