        I've been waiting all night to find out what species it was. Didn't want to ask because it would have spoilt the guessing game.

        I managed to squash one in my bedroom once, after she'd bit me. It made a totally disproportionate mess.

              Its only the female mozzies that bite, I think, and they do it because the need the nourishment for their eggs. The eggs they lay wont be viable unless mother skito has drank blood.
